Course Structure & Available Subjects: | This combined course comprises a total of 500 points, normally with 350 points undertaken in the Bachelor of Music and 150 points in the Bachelor of Teaching. The first three years of the combined course are devoted to music subjects, with the Bachelor of Teaching subjects normally undertaken in fourth and fifth year. |
Subject Options: | 2008 sees the final, limited, intake into the BMus/BTeach degree. The course structues below show the fourth and fifth year of the course only. Students interested in a music education qualification are advised to discuss their options, such as a Master of Teaching degree, with a Student Adviser. Fourth year - Primary StrandSubject Study Period Commencement: Credit Points: Fifth Year - Primary StrandSubject Study Period Commencement: Credit Points: Plus either: 460-424 Research Project or 460-427 Honours Project Subject Study Period Commencement: Credit Points: Fourth year - Secondary StrandSubject Study Period Commencement: Credit Points: Fifth year - Secondary StrandSubject Study Period Commencement: Credit Points: Music Electives or subjects, as approved by the Dean 37.500 (these electives should be selected in semester 1) Plus either: 460-424 Research Project or 460-427 Honours Project Subject Study Period Commencement: Credit Points: Academic ElectivesSubject Study Period Commencement: Credit Points: Applied ElectivesSubject Study Period Commencement: Credit Points: Ensemble ElectivesAudition and Special Permission requirements.A number of ensembles require an audition or special permission before enrolment can be approved. During the re-enrolment period, all ensemble selections will be processed with provisional approval. These enrolments will then be reviewed by Ensemble Directors, in the context of results, and students will be advised in late December/early January whether an audition/special permission will be needed before ensemble enrolment can be confirmed. Auditions will be held during February. The Faculty reserves the right to alter ensemble enrolments according to audition/special permission requirements. Entry Requirements: | Current Bachelor of Music students completing their third year at the end of 2007 are eligible to apply for the combined degree. An internal transfer application must be made online via the Student Portal. Students applying to enter the combined course at the end of third year must:
