Subject Overview:

This subject builds upon the linguistic abilities developed in . It aims at consolidating and expanding the four major language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing) by intensive practical training. This is achieved through a variety of activities, in particular group discussions, formal study of grammar, discourse forms and vocabulary, creative and factual writing, reading, listening to and watching authentic recorded documents. The materials used will broaden students' knowledge of French and Francophone high and popular cultures.

Assessment: Written work totalling 2500 words 60% (due during and at the end of semester) and a listening and oral tests 40% (due during and at the end of semester).

Breadth Options: This subject is a level 2 or level 3 subject and is not available to new generation degree students as a breadth option in 2008.
This subject or an equivalent will be available as breadth in the future.
Breadth subjects are currently being developed and these existing subject details can be used as guide to the type of options that might be available.
2009 subjects to be offered as breadth will be finalised before re-enrolment for 2009 starts in early October.

Notes:

Students who have completed 116-016 French II: Language B may not enrol in this subject.
