Specialisation Requirements:

Candidates complete the Graduate Diploma in German in the stream appropriate to their background in the language. Three streams are offered:


Beginners Stream
For candidates with no or very little previous knowledge of German:

  • Eight compulsory subjects

Intermediate Stream

For candidates with four or five years of high school German (or equivalent):

  • Seven compulsory subjects
  • One elective subject

Advanced/Post-VCE Stream

For candidates with a minimum of VCE German (or equivalent):

  • Seven compulsory subjects
  • One elective subject

Total 100 points
