Course Overview: The Graduate Diploma is similar to an undergraduate major and ideally suited as an introduction to the new discipline. This course is suitable for professional development and also a preparatory program if you intend to study at a higher level in an area you have not studied previously.
Objectives: Students who complete the graduate diploma should:

  • Demonstrate an independent approach to knowledge that uses rigorous methods of inquiry and appropriate theories and methodologies that are applied with intellectual honesty and a respect for ethical values;
  • Apply critical and analytical skills and methods to the identification and resolution of problems within complex changing social contexts;
  • Act as informed and critically discriminating participants within the community of scholars, as citizens and in the work force;
  • Communicate effectively;
  • Commit to continuous learning;
  • Be proficient in the use of appropriate modern technologies, such as the computer and other information technology systems, for the acquisition, processing and interpretation of data.
Course Structure & Available Subjects:

Total 100 points with a maximum of one first year subject.

No Specialisation:
Subjects totalling 100 points chosen from any of the areas below. No more than one subject may be taken at first year.

Students are required to complete:-

  • 12.5 points at level one,
  • 37.5 points at level two,
  • 37.5 points at level three and a level 3 compulsory subject (12.5 points).

Other specialisations:-

Subjects from each area of specialisation totalling 100 points (see each specialisation for details).
