Course Overview: The postgraduate certificate provides an entry point to an articulated structure of higher degree study and may qualify graduates for entry to the postgraduate diploma.

Students who complete the postgraduate certificate should:

  • demonstrate a sound understanding of the main developments in past and contemporary historical debates;
  • understand the issues involved in debates about historical knowledge;
  • become acquainted with contemporary debates about the relationship of historical theory to other areas of social enquiry

Entry Requirements:

The minimum entry requirement is:

  • an undergraduate degree with a major in history or cognate discipline and a grade average equivalent to an H2B (70%) at the University of Melbourne in the major
  • a Graduate Diploma in Arts (History) with a grade average equivalent to an H2B (70%) at the University of Melbourne.
