Subject Overview:

In this subject students will study key aspects of Italian culture, through the analysis of literary texts and other materials. Students will also have the opportunity to study the development of Italian society. By the end of the subject, students will have been introduced to a number of themes and texts in order to gain some understanding of the process of cultural analysis. They should also have acquired the ability to examine critically various aspects of Italian history and culture.

Assessment: Two assignments of 750 words each 40% (due mid-semester and at the end of semester respectively), a 250-word analysis of a specific text 20% (due mid-semester) and a 1000-word class paper 20% (due at the end of semester).

Notes:

This subject is only available at first year level for students commencing the intermediate language stream. Students enrolled in the beginners stream should enrol at second year level. Students who have completed 116-059 Intermediate Italian C may not enrol in this subject.
