Course Overview:

The graduate diploma is similar to an undergraduate major and offers a comprehensive program of study in creative writing. The course is suitable for general interest or professional development purposes and does not require a research project or thesis. Students interested in pursuing further studies are encouraged to discuss their options with the Department of English.

Objectives:

Students who complete the Graduate Diploma should:

  • gain broad experience of writing across a range of genres;
  • develop an understanding of the writing workshop process and the opportunities for writing development it offers;
  • develop an understanding of the processes and choices involved their own creative writing.
Course Structure & Available Subjects:

A sequence of first to third year level undergraduate creative-writing subjects; 12.5 points at first year level, 37.5 points at second year level and 50 points at third year level.

A total of 100 points - subjects are 12.5 points each, unless indicated otherwise.

Entry Requirements:

The minimum entry requirement is:

  • an undergraduate degree in any discipline.
Special application requirement: a typed folio of original creative writing (up to 1500 words) must be submitted with the application.
