Exhibition Management

Admission to the Master of Art Curatorship, Master of Arts & Cultural Management, Master of Arts & Cultural Management (Moving Image).

It is highly recommended that students undertake this subject after completing at least 50 points of their course.

Students who have previously completed ACUR90006 Project Management in the Arts, AMGT90008 Project Management in the Arts or 760-523 Financial Management are not eligible to enrol in this subject.

This subject provides an opportunity to understand the complexities of exhibitions management. Students will be introduced to the concepts and procedures required to develop, manage and deliver an exhibition or other arts-based project such as a performance, festival, etc.

Upon successful completion students will have:

• gained an understanding as to the development and presentation of creative content
• developed skills in the planning, implementation and evaluation of an arts based project
• extended their understanding of financial management issues as they relate to projects and arts organisations

Two pieces of written assessment:

Assignment: 1 - 1,000 word venue analysis 20% (due during semester)

Assignment 2 - 4,000 word exhibition proposal 80% (due during examination period)

Students are required to attend a minimum of 80% of classes in order to pass this subject.

A reader will be available.

This subject is not available as a breadth subject.

Upon successful completion students will have:

• advanced their communication skills through contributions to seminar discussions and presentations;
• developed their research, analytical and writing skills;
• expanded their conceptual skills and creative thinking;
• increased their capacity for effective teamwork through group discussions and collaboration; and
• developed their time management and planning skills through managing subject workload requirements.

Students who have previously completed 760-523 Financial Management are not eligible to enrol in this subject.
