Overview:

The Graduate Diploma in Arts (Advanced) allows you to undertake a minor research subject and coursework subjects in a specialist field of study at an advanced level. This course is equivalent to an Arts Honours program if the thesis component is taken. It serves as prerequisite entry to a Masters by Research or PhD for those who have not completed a four-year Arts (Honours) degree in the relevant area.

Learning Outcomes:

Students who complete the Graduate Diploma in Arts (Advanced) in this area of specialisation should:

  • acquire knowledge of the background necessary to proceed to research work in social theory;
  • develop an ability to proceed to original work in the subject; and
  • acquire the formal qualifications necessary to proceed to masters level work in social theory.
Structure & Available Subjects:

Duration: 1 year full-time / 2 years part-time

The Graduate Diploma in Arts (Advanced) in this area of specialisation requires:

  • two core subjects (25 points)
  • thesis subject (50 points)
  • elective subjects (25 points)
