This subject introduces students to arts policy and the issues that arise from the role the arts play in society. It surveys policy across various art forms and gives students a working grasp of how policy impacts on arts companies and artists. The focus is on the mechanics and practicalities of arts policy.
An article analysis of 500 words 10% (due early semester), a group project and seminar presentation of 2000 words 40% (due late semester), and an essay of 2500 words 50% (due at the end of semester). Students are required to attend a minimum of 80% of classes in order to qualify to have their written work assessed. All required written work must be submitted in order to pass the subject.
