This subject provides a ‘body of knowledge’ for the management of integrated freight systems. This includes an understanding of
• The relationship between the costs and timing of investment
• The use of capital and benefits of investment
• Commercial risks
• Cost/price relationships
• Financial modeling
• The relationship between cost drivers and growth
• Spreadsheet modeling for developing investment scenarios
Objectives: The subject objectives are to provide students with
• Knowledge and ability to manage in complex chain system environment
• Capability to make investment decisions and timing of those decisions
• Skills in resourcing chain systems
• Means of maximizing investment outcomes
Assessment: Seminar presentation – written report (600 words) – 10 percent
Group syndicate work and presentation of findings (1000 words) – 40 percent (group mark)
A research report (4000 words) – 50 percent
