Subject Overview:

Managing capacity in supply chains is a complex task, not only in terms of the quantum of capacity required and the particular moments in time that it is required but also, in complex chain systems, who should provide it! The unit pays special attention to understanding financial and investment issues related to the structuring and operation of supply chains.

Objectives: The subject objectives are to provide students with
• Knowledge and ability to manage in complex chain system environment
• Capability to make investment decisions and timing of those decisions
• Skills in resourcing chain systems
• Means of maximizing investment outcomes
Assessment: Seminar presentation – written report (600 words) – 10 percent
Group syndicate work and presentation of findings (1000 words) – 40 percent (group mark)
A research report (4000 words) – 50 percent
