Time Commitment: Contact Hours: One 2-hour seminar per week on campus, plus regular individual consultation with thesis supervisor.

Subject Overview: This subject provides students with experience in the development of a minor thesis. Preliminary sections of the thesis will include: An overview of literature pertinent to a thesis topic and the development of a research design, including research questions and method, and (where appropriate) submission of an Ethics Approval form. Tutorials will develop skills in the design and conceptualization of programs and evaluations, as well as development of appropriate writing and research skills.
Objectives:

On completion of this subject, students be able to:

  • Devise a research project suitable to the clinical setting that results in qualitative or quantitative results;
  • Show a command of research literature and relate this to the current project.
Assessment: A review of literature (5,000 words) due at the end of semester (80%); research questions and method (1,500 words), due mid-semester (20%).
