Subject Overview: |
This is a project based subject in which students will design and implement a significant solution/application to address a non-trivial domain-specific problem, based on the concepts, technologies and approaches they have learnt in the preceding Informatics subjects. Students will be required to propose a specific project with the support of an appropriate supervisor with domain expertise; they will then implement the solution while contributing to and being supported by a peer-based development community comprised of fellow students, IT experts and domain specialists. Student will have an opportunity to present their work to the community for critique and feedback. |

On completion of this subject students should be able to implement a complex, typically web-based, application that integrates, transforms and displays complex data sets. |
Assessment: |
One staged group project comprising: project plan, due in first quarter of semester (length 20 pages, 10%); project outcomes assessed at mid-semester and end of semester (60%); one group-work based 15-minute oral presentation in week 12 (20%); peer review component of group-work (10%). |
