This subject develops teacher candidates’ understanding of the place of this learning area in contemporary goals of school in Australia and in the Victorian curriculum in particular. By considering the principles of learning and teaching that underpin effective classrooms and the research that supports these principles, this subject will widen teacher candidates’ appreciation of exemplary teaching in this area. Topics include: planning and organisation; teaching and learning, assessment and resources for learning. Commerce, economics, civics and citizenship and business related units at 7-10 levels within the framework of the Victorian Essential Learning Standards are explored. The subject will consider the teaching of specialist business studies VCE areas: accounting, business management, economics and legal studies, including unit planning and assessment. |
