Overview:	The DL provides students with the opportunity to gain a Diploma in Spanish language study while completing an undergraduate degree at the University of Melbourne.
Objectives:	On completion of the Diploma, students should: have acquired a mastery of both oral/aural and writing/reading skills comparable to that of a student majoring in a language discipline; have gained a basic understanding of selected aspects of the culture (or cultures) and of the society (or societies) associated with the language.
Structure & Available Subjects:	The Diploma consists of a three-year sequence of first-, second- and third-year language study and may add up to one year to the duration of the student’s degree course. See the Diploma course structure for details.
Subject Options:	Beginners Stream - First Year Students completing the Spanish DL beginners stream must undertake the following subjects (25 points). Subject Study Period Commencement: Credit Points: SPAN10001 Spanish Beginners Language & Culture A Semester 1 12.50 SPAN10002 Spanish Beginners Language & Culture B Semester 2 12.50 Beginners Stream - Second Year Students completing the Spanish DL beginners stream must undertake the following subjects (37.50 points). Intensive Intermediate Spanish (summer) 25.00 points can be completed in lieu of Spanish Intermediate Language and Culture A and B.
