Subject Overview: Financial analysis of capital works. Strategic planning and accommodation decisions. Terotechnology, life cycle costing and cost benefit analysis. Development leases and maintenance contract procedures.

On completion of this subject students should have the ability to:

  • place property ownership in the context of the investment environment;
  • understand the life cycle study for a significant part or element of a building and be able to carry out an analysis of a whole building;
  • understand the principles of depreciation, obsolescence and other ownership issues as they apply to new and existing buildings.

One three-hour examination (60%); Assignments totaling no more than 2000 words (40%); A minimum mark of 40% must be achieved in the examination in order to pass this subject.
