The Master of Construction Management is a professional program for graduates wanting to gain employment in the construction industry. The Master of Construction Management focuses on real-world projects which range across the full construction management cycle, preparing students for the realities of professional life. It allows students to develop and build on expertise in quantity surveying, construction law, project management and facility management. The Construction Management program is designed to build on the Bachelor of Environments in a two-year program or, for those coming from other fields, as a three-year stream (from 2010). Extremely valuable professional experience can be integrated as part of the program providing a unique practical experience enriching the connection to the related fields of work that also contribute to professional accreditation requirements. |

Master of Construction Management (200 points) For students entering with a Bachelor of Planning and Design (Property and Construction) or equivalent.
Core SubjectsSubject Study Period Commencement: Credit Points: SelectivesStudents should select 75 points of selectives from the list below and/or from subjects offered in the Melbourne School of Design with the approval of the course coordinator.Subject Study Period Commencement: Credit Points: Recommended Pathway - Option 1Set out below is a recommended course structure for students entering with a Bachelor of Planning and Design (Property and Construction) or equivalent. Year 1, Semester 1 Subject Study Period Commencement: Credit Points: Year 1, Semester 2 Students may choose the following core subjects and a 12.5 credit point selective subject. Selectives on offer in semester 2 2008 are 702666 Project Scope, Time and Cost and 702668 Project Risk, Quality and Procurement. Subject Study Period Commencement: Credit Points: Year 2 In Year 2, students take 62.5 credit points of selectives and 37.5 points of electives from the Melbourne School of Design. Master of Construction Management (200 points) Option 2: For students entering with a Bachelor of Environments (Construction) or equivalent.

Graduates in construction management typically work for construction companies both on and off construction sites. Their roles include planning and scheduling, project management, contract administration, or estimating and tendering. Graduates pursuing a career in construction economics work as construction cost consultants and quantity surveyors with financiers, property developers, and project managers.
