Subject Overview: This subject will focus on effective presentation and/or facilitation. It will commence with supportive micro-teaching sessions, in which participants receive feedback on performance from their peers and CSHE staff. The emphasis will then shift to actual teaching contexts - lectures and/or discussion groups. Participants will work with a department adviser who will observe their teaching and offer advice. They will also be observed and assessed by a member of CSHE.
Assessment: The two observed classes will be part of participants' normal teaching responsibilities, so will not require additional work beyond documentation of objectives and plans. Preparation and presentation of a 15 minute 'class' for micro-teaching session (20 per cent) (early in the semester), preparation and presentation of a lecture or tutorial for observation by adviser (20 per cent) (mid-semester), preparation and presentation of a lecture or tutorial for observation by adviser and CSHE staff member (35 per cent) (towards the end of semester) and reflective essay of 1,500 words (25 per cent) (end of semester).

Generic Skills: At the completion of the subject, participants should have developed:
