Course Overview:

The postgraduate certificate provides an entry point to an articulated structure of higher degree study and may qualify graduates for entry to the postgraduate diploma.

Objectives: Students who complete the postgraduate certificate should:
  • have the capacity to prepare an original piece of research;
  • gain an in-depth knowledge of theories and methodologies about visual cultures;
  • develop the ability to analyse the critical reception of works of art.
Course Structure & Available Subjects: Total 50 points - subjects are 12.5 points each, unless indicated otherwise.

Entry Requirements:

The minimum entry requirement is:

  • an undergraduate degree with a major in art history, or a relevant cognate area such as cinema studies, classics, archaeology, architectural history, studio art (BFA), history, English, cultural studies, with a minimum of 50 points in art history and a grade average of H2B (70%) or equivalent in the major
or
  • a Graduate Diploma in Arts (Art History) with a grade average of H2B (70%) or equivalent.
