Subject Overview:

This subject involves the study of modern literary texts and modern conversational idiom and grammar. Students should complete the subject with an enriched knowledge of the language through the use of modern Hebrew literature, of the modern idiom spoken in Israel today, including its vocabulary, grammar and syntax. The subject should prepare students for a broader range of expertise.

Assessment: Written essays totalling 2000 words throughout semester 40%, a ten minute oral exam 10% and a two hour written examination 50% at the end of semester.

Notes:

This subject is only available at first year level for students enrolled in the post-intermediate language stream. Students enrolled in the beginners stream should enrol at second year level, and those in the intermediate stream should enrol at third year level. Formerly available as 109-007 and 183-118 Hebrew 3B. Students who have completed 109-007 are not eligible to enrol in this subject.
