Prerequisites: | Students must have completed four semesters of study of Chinese at the University of Melbourne in order to obtain credit for this subject. 110-029 Chinese 2B (formerly Introductory Chinese 2B) or 110-161 Chinese 2F (formerly Chinese 1B) is the minimum level required. | ||||||||||||

Ms Diane ManwaringSubject Overview: | This subject is intended to provide an in-country study experience for those students who are unable to study overseas for the longer period of time required by the University's exchange programme. Students will experience Chinese culture and society at first hand while intensively practising their language skills. |

Assessment: | A 2-hour written examination 50%; 45-minute listening comprehension test 20% and a 10-minute oral test 30% (all due in the final week). Students are required to have a minimum of 90% class attendance and achieve a pass in all tests set by the host university. |

Breadth Options: | This subject is a level 2 or level 3 subject and is not available to new generation degree students as a breadth option in 2008. This subject or an equivalent will be available as breadth in the future. Breadth subjects are currently being developed and these existing subject details can be used as guide to the type of options that might be available. 2009 subjects to be offered as breadth will be finalised before re-enrolment for 2009 starts in early October. |
