This subject builds on the concepts presented in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy A to further extend the students' knowledge and clinical expertise and thereby equip them with enhanced skills required to work clinically at an advanced level.

The subject objectives are to provide an opportunity for students to:

• Build on the knowledge and skills acquired in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy A
• Become better communicators and educators
• Further develop clinical reasoning that integrate theoretical concepts with evidence based practice in the field of musculoskeletal physiotherapy
• Reflect on the implications of dysfunction on the neuro-musculoskeletal system and the students' clinical decision making
• Explore psychosocial affects and illness behaviours in chronic pain
• Develop more sensitive and specific handling skills with regard to manual skills including soft tissue, mobilization and high velocity thrust techniques
• Gain proficiency in implementing and critically evauluating musculoskeletal physiotherapy clinical manangement plans from the acute phase through to full rehabilitation of the patient
• Critically evaluate presentations from specialist physiotherapists and leaders in the field of musculoskeletal physiotherapy
• Demonstrate advanced communication skills as therapists and educators
• Understand the need for continued professional commitment to the development of musculoskeletal practice

1. One written assignment - 2500 words (35%) due end of semester 2
2. Class presentation - 15 mins total (40%) incorporating presentation (25%) annotated bibliography (10%) and peer review (5%) in the last 2 weeks of semester 2
3. Practical skills evaluation throughout semester 2 (25%)
