The orchestra, variable in size and instrumentation according to student cohort, will focus on repertoire, both old and new, suitable for a group which can embrace music from the 18th century to the 21st century (excluding the large symphonic repertoire). It may embrace works by composition students within the School and involve sessions, conducted and non-conducted, in which the ensemble will rehearse and prepare programs suitable for public performance or recording.
On completion of this subject students should have acquired the ability to
Continuous: Preparation and commitment as demonstrated by performance tasks and/or a regularly updated journal of activities embracing all areas studied (50%) - Hurdle requirement of 80% attendance.
Formal: One performance or recording (50%).
