The development of object and spatial generating abilities, drawing and observational skills, and the articulation of these in an expanded sculptural and spatial context. A series of 12 studio workshops where students will experiment with a range of observation, translation and generating methods using drawing and various media.

This subject will enable students to:
• develop object and spatial generating abilities, observational skills, and the articulation of these in a range of media.

Informal, formative assessment of developing and finished work takes place in the form of group and individual tutorials/feedback on a regular basis in class hours. Formal, summative assessment of the entire semester folio takes place at the end of the semester. For end of semester assessment, each student submits a folio of work that demonstrates engagement with the course, the development of ideas and skills, and a personal direction. Documentation of ephemeral works or works completed off-campus, visual diaries and other notations done in direct relation to the course structure are all admissible (100%).

Hurdle requirements: Students must attend 80% of all scheduled classes for the folio to be considered for assessment purposes.

Incidental Fees will apply for the purpose of accessing workshop/labs and purchase of materials as relevant.

This subject is not available as a breadth subject.

On completing this subject students will be able to:
• demonstrate capacities for artistic imagination, creativity, transformation and interpretation;
• work at various levels, both as an individual and as a team member, in a wide variety of visual artistic environments;
• explore drawing as a generative process related to sculptural practice;
• explore a variety of drawing based methodologies;
• develop generating methods in the development of sculptural form;
• establish foundations for a practical understanding and application of sound occupational health and safety practices.
