Graduate Diploma in Arts (Advanced) - German

The Graduate Diploma in Arts (Advanced) program in German Studies comprises advanced coursework and an individual research program designed to extend students’ knowledge and skills in one specific field of German Studies (such as German linguistics, German literary studies or German cultural studies). After successfully completing the program, students will have gained considerable practical skills such as research skills, report writing, presentation and communication skills, language skills and international and cultural awareness.

Students who complete the Graduate Diploma in Arts (Advanced) in this area of specialisation should:

• engage in sophisticated discourse in German;
• enhance their reading comprehension of the language and their written and spoken command of German;
• enhance the ability to discuss, analyse and evaluate complex ideas in German; and
• become acquainted with recent critical theory and methodology.

Duration: 1 year full-time / 2 years part-time

The Graduate Diploma in Arts (Advanced) in this area of specialisation requires:

• one compulsory subject (12.5 points)
• thesis of 12,000 words written in German or 15,000 words in English (50 points)
• elective subjects (37.5 points)
