Music Theatre Combination Class 2 continues the work begun in first year of skills integration across key skill performance areas. Classes will include Production Class (song and dance numbers), Acting the Song (expanding to duets, small ensembles and scene/song work) and introduce Presentation Class, where students will regularly present autonomously prepared work for lecturer feedback in front of their peers. MTCC 3 will focus on the development of independent study process and greater understanding of the inter-dependant nature of music and song, text (as speech or lyrics), and physical storytelling (through dance and characterisation) within music theatre storytelling and performance.
Upon completion of this subject students should be able to:
Continuous: 55% TOTAL: comprising:Production class 15%; Acting the Song 20%; Presentation Class 20% Focusing on achievements against set criteria in areas such as: engagement, developing a methodology, transference of skills into performance, professional attitude and commitment, ability to discuss & give/receive feedback.
Formal: 35% TOTAL: based on performance of a set task in Production Class and in Acting the Song Production Class: 15%; Acting the Song: 20%
Written: 10% TOTAL: journal-based log of preparation for two Presentation Class tasks, describing and contrasting processes undertaken for each and critical analysis of the relationship between process and end product, incorporating response to feedback and discoveries made. 500 words
