Subject Overview:

This subject is based on a growing trend of sectors and organisations asking evaluators to build and develop their capacity in evaluation thinking and practice.

This subject will explore the fundamentals of evaluation capacity building, the concept of developing evaluation capacity with individuals, teams and organisations and how to apply these concepts in practice.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this subject it is expected that students should be able to:

  • identify targets for evaluation capacity development
  • describe evaluation capacity building frameworks and models
  • reflect on the role of an evaluator in evaluation capacity building
  • apply evaluation practices to evaluation capacity building interventions
  • demonstrate instructional strategies for use in evaluation capacity building
  • design strategies for evaluation capacity building interventions
Assessment:
  • 2-3 exercises on subject content, ongoing (20%)
  • 2-3 case reflections, ongoing (20%)
  • written task of 2250 words, end of subject, (45%)
  • 3 forum participation tasks, ongoing (15%)
