Negotiated Capstone Project

This subject has the following teaching availabilities in 2015:

It is expected that student time commitment for the subject will be at least 170 hours.

• EDUC90619 and EDUC90620, or
• for students in the Master of Education (International Baccalaureate) or Master of Numeracy, EDUC90620 must be taken as a co requisite

This subject comprises the compulsory [AQF] Capstone experience for this course. Drawing on theory, knowledge and skills developed throughout the Master of Education, students will complete an individually negotiated project in which the student undertakes a theoretical study (for example, a substantial critical review of a particular body of literature), a research or workplace project, or an approved relevant educational experience. The Capstone project will culminate with students synthesizing the findings of their work in a written form such as a journal article or report.

On completion of this subject, students should be able to:

• investigate systematically a matter of concern in their workplace; or
• conduct a constructively critical literature review.

There is one assessment task:

• A research report of approximately 5000 words, due end of semester (100%).

There is one hurdle requirement:

• A 15 minute oral presentation of the project’s results, due as scheduled during the second half of the semester.

Attendance at all classes (tutorial/seminars/practical classes/lectures/labs) is obligatory. Failure to attend 80% of classes will normally result in failure in the subject.

This subject is not available as a breadth subject.
