Subject Overview: |
Psyche and place, landscape and memory, climate and the human trace, solitude and communion, the mind and the body, work and exercise, waking dreams and walking dreams have all been subjects of inquiry, reflection, provocation, habit and experiment for centuries. Nietzsche, Rousseau, Rimbaud and Kant have been famous for their walking as much as their writing, and more lately, W.G. Sebald, Will Self, Rebecca Solnit, Sarah Pink and French Philosopher Frederic Gros have all written on walking and by walking. This subject will take you on selected walks that will then take you deeper into writing. |
