Overview:

Honours in Botany is a one-year program designed to extend students' knowledge and skills through a supervised research project together with advanced coursework in botany.

Admission requirements

In addition to satisfying the Bachelor of Science (Degree with Honours) entry requirements, students are required to have completed stream specific prerequisite.

Honours in Botany is available as start of year intake and mid year intake.

Learning Outcomes:

The objectives of the Honours program in Botany include providing students with opportunities to

  • Acquire skills in original research in plant science (scientific and technical)
  • Develop capacity for critical thinking and evaluation of information
  • Acquire knowledge across wide areas of plant sciences
  • Enhance communication skills (writing and oral presentations)
Structure & Available Subjects:

Research
Students must complete 75 points of research.

Coursework
Students must complete 25 points of coursework.

Subject Options:

Research component

Students enrol in a total of 75 points of research project across the duration of the Honours program. This is achieved by enrolling in a combination of the following subjects in appropriate semesters to achieve a total 75 credit points.

One Level 3 Botany subject, for which credit has not already been given, or an alternative postgraduate coursework elective may be chosen if the core knowledge is required (subject to the approval of the Honours coordinator).
