Overview:

The minimum entry requirement for Australian Indigenous Studies honours is completion of all the requirements for the BA and a major in Australian Indigenous Studies with an average of at least H2A (75%) in second and third-year subjects within the major, or equivalent.

Structure & Available Subjects:

Students undertaking pure honours in Australian Indigenous Studies must complete:

  • AIND40006 Australian Indigenous Studies Thesis (50 points); and
  • MULT50001 Research Principles and Practices (*see note below) (12.5 points); and
  • three honours Australian Indigenous Studies subjects (37.5 points) listed below.

Students undertaking combined honours in Australian Indigenous Studies and another discipline must complete:

  • AIND40006 Australian Indigenous Studies Thesis (50 points); and
  • MULT50001 Research Principles and Practices (*see note below) (12.5 points); and
  • three honours subjects in the combining program (37.5 points).

OR

  • Honours thesis in the combining program (50 points)
  • research methodology subject in the combining program (12.5 points); and
  • three honours subjects in Australian Indigenous Studies (37.5 points).

*Note: Students must undertake MULT50001 Research Principles and Practices in the first semester of their Australian Indigenous Studies Thesis enrolment.
