Admission into MC-COMMG, MC-COMMK or BH-COM

Corequisites:

MGMT40003 Advanced Management Theory, MGMT40004 Management Research Essay.

Subject Overview:

This subject will provide students with the theoretical knowledge and practical 'know-how' that will help equip them to undertake an advanced management or marketing research project. Subject matter will include: the nature of the research process; an introduction to the epistemology of research; how to produce a literature review; how to design a research project; and, the principles of quantitative and qualitative research.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this subject, you should be able to:
• Explain the research process, including the philosophical underpinnings of research, the literature review, the research question and research design;
• Analyse and evaluate research undertaken within different methodological traditions

Assessment:
  • A 3-hour examination to take place after the Easter non-teaching period (60%)
  • Group assignment of 1000 words due in the final seminar (10%)
  • Individual assignment of 3000 words due after the Easter non-teaching period (30%)

Notes:

This subject will be taught in intensive mode: two or three full days of seminars in the week before semester one begins, one three-hour seminar each week for the next five weeks of semester, and possibly another full day seminar in the fourth week of semester.
