Working in 3-hour weekly studio workshops, students will select from painting, drawing and print media, digital technologies, sculpture, installation, performance or photography and/or combinations of the above and work on developing their knowledge of media, technique and material and conceptual process appropriate to their chosen art form. Each student will present their art work at a group seminar during the semester.
This subject aims to:
• demonstrate to students how to plan and organise their own studio activity and effectively utilise resources appropriate to developing art practice;
• explore ideas and personal concerns by means of the manipulation and organisation of materials and images;
• demonstrate a developing knowledge of contemporary visual art practice;
• investigate and evaluate the personal relevance of traditional and contemporary models of art practice;
• communicate verbally, student observations of and responses to the products of visual art practice.
A folio of developmental and resolved work and supporting documentation (sketch book and/or notebook) equivalent to 2,500 words (100%).
Hurdle Requirement: 80% attendance is required for the folio to be considered for assessment purposes.
