Subject Overview:

This subject introduces students to the skills necessary to conduct rigorous and original research, and effectively communicate their research findings in a clear and systematic manner. The subject concentrates on the preliminary stages of thesis writing: selecting and refining a research topic; developing appropriate research questions/hypotheses; selecting and using appropriate research methods.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Design an appropriate research program for their Research Project
  • Propose a research topic and survey the relevant literature
  • Demonstrate an understanding of various research approaches and paradigms, and methods of data collection and analysis
  • Submission of a research proposal (5000 words)
  • Oral presentation based upon research proposal
