To enrol in this subject, you must be admitted in the Master of Global Studies in Education (MC-GLBSTED) . This subject is not available for students admitted in any other courses.

This subject is designed as a capstone project to enable students to (1) explore some of the key methodological issues in researching issues of education in transnational settings and (2) apply some of the insights they have developed from earlier subjects to develop and conduct a small scale action research project. This will enable students to follow their specific interests linked either to their workplace or to a specific topic about issues of globalization and education. A project might involve using evidence to

• develop a curriculum package designed to internationalize the curriculum or
• conduct a small-scale survey about attitudes towards global problems
• implement and review a professional development program in internationalization of education or
• develop a policy on international education for your place of work or
• analyse a public policy linked to internationalization of education or
• conduct an action research project relating to a particular issue of curriculum, pedagogy or evaluation relating to global education

All project reports will require an introductory section that critically examines the literature on globalization and education, and issues of researching educational issues in transnational settings.

The subject seeks to:

1. critically explore some of the key methodological issues in researching issues of education in transnational settings;
2. use the insights developed in earlier GSE subjects to develop and conduct a small scale action research project on a negotiated topic relating to issues of globalization and education
3. present a research report that demonstrates an understanding of the broader issues explored in the course, and also an ability to apply this conceptual understanding to issues of policy and practice

• A short essay based on the online learning activities – equivalent of 2000 words (10%)
• A presentation outlining the capstone project (up to 10 minutes) (20%)
• A major report 8000 words, benefiting from feedback from the presentation (70%)
