This subject examines the processes of communicating across cultures. Topics include language as a manifestation and reflection of culture; language, culture and identity; politeness and "face"; cultural variations in nonverbal communication; power in interpersonal interactions; negotiating a shared basis for communication; discourse variations between cultures; and intercultural gender awareness. |
