Subject Overview:

Students will gain professional experience through a supervised work-placement program with an approved music organisation.

Objectives:

This course is designed to enable students to:

  • articulate personal objectives and the requisite competencies for establishing a career in a music profession
  • develop evidence of an ability to become an integral member of a professional work environment, applying knowledge and skills acquired during academic studies to the requirements of the workplace
  • identify and appraise key internal and external factors relevant to an organisation that influence the accomplishment of its mission and principal goals
  • critically evaluate their work placement experience and related development of skills and knowledge
  • compile an e-portfolio record of demonstrable work skills, knowledge and experience
Assessment:

Career planning document of 1000 words, due at the end of week 4 (20%); organisational analysis of 1000 words, due at the end of week 8 (30%); work placement diary/e-portfolio of 1500 words, due at the end of semester (20%); supervisor's evaluation (30%). All assessment components mus be completed in order to pass the subject.
