Total Time Commitment:

The campus-based week-long workshops will operate fulltime, with at least two hours of lectures and three hours of practicals each day. The fieldbased modules will involve 8 am and 4pm days of study. In both cases, after hours private study (5-10 hours per week) will be required.

Subject Overview:

This subject comprises five one-week workshops selected from the range of electives available in the VIEPS handbook. The options may vary from year to year, so candidates should check with the coordinator.
Objectives:

The aim of this subject is to provide advanced level subjects in the earth sciences in order to both extend and broaden the knowledge base of students.
Assessment:

Each of the five modules will be assessed either by a 2 hour exam at the end of each module, or practical exercises/field reports of up to 1500 words completed during the week in which the module is held. The exams/written reports from each module will each be worth 20% of the final grade.

During the course of this subject, students will have opportunities to:
