|Prerequisites:||This is considered a core subject in the field of educational administration. All candidates who intend specialising in this field should take this subject, as well as 482-848 Leading the Educational Organisation, before proceeding to other subjects.|

|Core Participation Requirements:||Attendance at all classes (tutorial/seminars/practical classes/lectures/labs) is obligatory. Failure to attend 80% of classes will normally result in failure in the subject.|

|Subject Overview:||This subject is concerned with building a framework of knowledge to gain an understanding of organisations. Particular attention is given to the roles of individuals, groups and teams, and to organizational structures. The subject explores current issues affecting organisations and provides an opportunity for the exploration of a range of organizational arrangements that are now making their appearance in different settings.|
|Assessment:||Two papers of 4,000 words (50 per cent each) or one paper of 8,000 words (100 per cent).|
