Subject Overview: <P>This subject is concerned with understanding the notion of leadership within the early childhood profession. Topics will include conceptualising the nature of leadership in early childhood, global perspectives and emergent models; working with parents, colleagues and other professionals; developing networks and working with government and non-government agencies; methods of communication and identification of typical problems associated with the communication process; nature of decision making in the centre; sources of power and influence; and policy development and the role that early childhood professionals may play as advocates engaged in a wider societal context.</P>
