Subject Overview:

Theories from the major disciplines underpinning current educational practice will be studied. Theories from educational sociology, educational philosophy and educational psychology, noting their relevance to contemporary educational issues such as discipline, access to education, education of ethnic minorities and gender, will also be examined. A significant component of the subject will examine the applicability of child development concepts to classroom practices.
