This subject builds on skills acquired in Swedish Language & Culture 2B and comprises advanced language training, a survey of the history of the Swedish language, and the study of selected prose from 1950 to the present. Students will further improve their ability to communicate in Swedish with increasing fluency, accuracy and appropriateness in activities involving the integrated use of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Furthermore, students will gain insights into the historical, social and stylistic variation of the Swedish language.

Oral and written assessment totalling 2,000 words 50% (during semester) and a 2-hour written examination 50% (in the examination period).

This subject has the following hurdle requirements:

• Regular participation in tutorials is required with a minimum of 75% attendance.
• All pieces of written work must be submitted to pass this subject.

Assessment submitted late without an approved extension will be penalised at 10% per day and in-class tasks missed without approval will not be marked.

It is only available at level three for students who completed subject requirements for the beginners stream of Swedish at level one and two. Previously available as Advanced Swedish A.
