Previously available as Intermediate Swedish B. Students who have completed Intermediate Swedish B or Swedish Language & Culture 2B at Level 1 are not eligible to enrol in this subject.

This subject builds on skills acquired in Swedish Language and Culture 2A. It focuses on reading, writing, listening, speaking, vocabulary and grammatical structure, making use of a number of different types of texts and activities, including the study of a contemporary film. Students will expand their vocabulary to a higher level of complexity in the speaking, understanding, reading and writing of Swedish.

• have developed skills to communicate in spoken and written Swedish with increasing fluency and accuracy.
• understand a basic variety of registers of Swedish within contemporary and historical contexts.
• have been introduced to the society, history, culture and literature of Sweden, largely through the medium of Swedish.
• have studied selected texts.
• have achieved the level of language competency required for admittance into Swedish Language and Culture 3A.

Aural, oral and written assessment totalling 1,000 words 25% (during semester). a 1-hour mid-semester test 25% (during semester) and a 2-hour written examination 50% (in the examination period).

This subject has the following hurdle requirements:

• Regular participation in tutorials is required with a minimum of 75% attendance.
• All pieces of written work must be submitted to pass this subject.

Assessment submitted late without an approved extension will be penalised at 10% per day and in-class tasks missed without approval will not be marked.
