Students who have completed 126-008 German Intermediate Cultural Studies are not allowed to enrol in this subject.

This subject consists of 1 hour lecture, 1 hour tutorial and a 1-hour language seminar. Students will be introduced to important cultural, literary and linguistic aspects of the German language. Students will be given the opportunity to develop topics of interest within these general areas and will be introduced to a variety of specialist terminology. In the language seminar students will learn the skills to read and interpret more complex texts in German and will reflect on these texts at a sophisticated level in both written and spoken German. Students should achieve the level of competency required for admittance into German Post-Intermediate 3A and German Post-Intermediate 3B.

• have achieved the level of competency required for admittance into German Post-Inter Cultural Studies, German Post-Intermediate 3A, German Post-Intermediate 3B.

A reflective journal totalling 1000 words (25%) due during semester; a five-minute oral presentation during semester (15%); blog entries totalling 750 words (10%) during semester; two one-hour tests mid- and end of semester (50%).

This subject has the following hurdle requirements:

• Regular participation in tutorials is required with a minimum of 75% attendance.
• All pieces of written work must be submitted to pass this subject.

Assessment submitted late without an approved extension will be penalised at 10% per day and in-class tasks missed without approval will not be marked.
