Subject Overview: Principles and practices of assessment and diagnosis including:
  • assessment of infants;
  • infant-parent relationship;
  • parents and the familial and psychosocial environment; and
  • treatment approaches to infant mental health problems including:
  1. interactional guidance;
  2. infant-parent psychotherapy;
  3. developmental guidance;
  4. theoretical foundations of different therapeutic processes;
  5. therapeutic processes;
  6. treatment planning;
  7. therapeutic consultations;
  8. early intervention and prevention;
  9. consultation and liaison; and
  10. current infant mental health research.
