Subject Overview: This subject aims to provide students with an in depth understanding of the publication process and the skills required to prepare a manuscript for peer review. This encompasses gaining knowledge regarding where to publish, the requirements for publication and what constitutes authorship, and skills in scientific writing. Students will produce a publication strategy, and a manuscript which will be submitted for peer review. Students are required to bring to this subject an idea or written material that will potentially enable publication of a new piece of work.
Objectives:

On completion of this subject, students will have:

  • An advanced knowledge regarding the publication of physiotherapy research
  • An understanding of what constitutes authorship
  • An in-depth understanding of journal requirements for publication
  • Well developed scientific writing skills
  • The ability to subit a manuscript for peer review
Assessment:

One 2,000 word assignment, due by mid-semester (15%)

One 3,000 word assignment, due by end of semester (85%)
