Education Student CentreSubject Overview: | In this professional practice subject, students undertake the equivalent of 15 days of supervised professional practice in a specific learning disability setting. The focus of the placement is on diagnosing and remediating literacy learning disabilities. The setting can be either segregated or inclusive. It will provide students with the opportunity to design, implement and evaluate interventions for students who have literacy learning disabilities. It may be undertaken in their own workplace if a suitably qualified supervisor is available. Students will need to attend workshops/seminars. |

Assessment: | Satisfactory completion of 15 days or professional practice. Students are required to submit a written 1500 words report on the placement. It includes: a statement of the setting's policies and programs and it modus operandi to achieve them; an outline of the 10 program lesson plans and a rationale for the choice of the methods and strategies used in each session and an evaluative statement concerning the effectiveness of the teaching and learning strategies used in the lesson plans. |
