Subject Overview: This subject will have particular relevance to those engaged in some aspect of clinical practice in women's health. It will examine controversial management issues and recent developments in women's health. Topics will include the optimal management of abnormal pap smear results, common breast problems, recurrent vaginal infection, premenstrual syndrome, the use of hormone replacement therapy and the treatment of osteoporosis and heart disease.
Objectives:


Students who successfully complete this subject should have:

• Improved knowledge regarding recent technical, diagnostic and management advances in practical aspects of women's health
• Greater confidence in dealing with difficult women's health issues
• Increased ability to critically evaluate evidence related to current management practices in women's health

Assessment: Class paper and written assignments totalling 8,000 words
