Subject Overview: Students participate in staff-supervised ensembles as directed by the Director, Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. Unless otherwise directed, string, woodwind, brass, and percussion instrumentalists are required to perform in the two Symphony Orchestra and two Chamber Orchestra concerts scheduled each year.
Students will develop their techniques as ensemble players and study selected repertoire to performance standard.
Objectives: On completion of this subject students should be able to:
  • show technical development as ensemble musicians
  • participate with ability and self-confidence as a team member of a performing group
  • perform selected repertoire to concert standard
  • identify and exhibit specific knowledge of a range of ensemble repertoire
  • exhibit an informed respect for the values and principles of ensemble performance.
Assessment: In order to pass the subject, students must attend and participate in all ensemble rehearsals and performances during the academic year, as directed (100%).
